INIKA’s Q&A with Nicole
Q. So, Nicole, why INIKA?
A. “Natural, clean, and organic products have always been something I value. I love that INIKA is the highest certified natural makeup brand in the world. I’m very conscious of what I put on my skin and favour products that work hard without compromising on performance or impacting on our planet.”Q. You’ve always been incredibly selective in terms of the brands you work with. What is it about INIKA Organics that made you so keen to align with them?
A. “I’m always on the lookout for products that are organic, clean, and cruelty-free. I remember the first time I tried INIKA products; it had been a long day and our team was having a meeting – I get sent a lot of PR mail, but I knew this one was coming and had been looking forward to it – I was unboxing the products and actually had to interrupt the meeting just to take it all in. I was just so taken by them. It was almost a bit of a sensory immersion, from the beautiful fragrances from the natural botanicals they use in the range, which is equally nostalgic to me as it reminds me of home.I have always wanted to align with a beauty company, but I’ve never been ready, or the brand hasn’t matched with my values. But with INIKA it was so clear that the partnership was right, it was almost primal.
With the added news of INIKA now being certified Plastic Neutral, I’m so thrilled to be working with a brand that puts its sustainability principles first, and actually works.”
Q. Anyone who has ever shot you before has always talked about the incredible glow you have. Is that something that comes from DNA, a great diet, good skincare habits or clever makeup? What’s your formula?
A. I’m not sure there’s a formula, but there’s certainly things I do to nourish my skin, body and overall wellbeing. I take vitamins and eat rich organic whole foods, and even homegrown fruit and vegetables from the veggie patch I started with my kids over COVID. From a skincare perspective, I love INIKA products as they’re so lightweight and kind on my skin. My skincare regime is diligent – cleanser, oils, serums, creams, balms for day and night. Doing these things benefits my body, state of mind and skin. I’m very conscious of what I put on my skin and certainly favour products that work hard without compromising on performance or impacting on our planet, like INIKA.Q. And now you’re living on a 50-acre ranch in Texas. Being immersed in that environment, has it changed the way you view nature and the impact that humankind has had on the planet?
A. Absolutely, through COVID especially, we really became familiar with the precious resources available to us living on the land. We started to grow more of our own produce to farm. We also compost, and the by-product enriches our garden and feeds our chooks. I also try to eat plant-based where I can.We avoid soft plastics and favour things like beeswax wraps and recyclables. It’s certainly a journey, and as a family, we are trying to really transition and reframe our behaviour to live more sustainably. For me, it’s about questioning whether there’s another path or a better way that benefits me, my family, and of course our planet.
